For More Information & Clarification, Email Kaitlyn@CadenceMusic.StudioCadence Music Studio’s goal is to introduce students to the world of music through the study of piano. Through the study of music Cadence Music Studio hopes to give people a new love for music and a passion to discover and enjoy the ability to play the piano.
Taught in Piano Lessons:
Piano technique such as scales, fingering, and musicality.
Music theory such as chording, rhythm, and note reading.
Different piano genres such as classical, jazz, popular, and worship/church music.
Developing people into musicians where they can transfer musical skills used in piano lessons to other instruments as well as other areas of life.
Practice Goals:
Students should practice 5 days a week
I do not require a specific amount of time for students to sit at the piano and practice. The reason why I do this is because it is dependent on the age and level of the student. I recommend beginner students to play through each song 3-5 times everyday they practice. While, for intermediate and advanced students, I recommend them practicing anywhere from 30-60 minutes each practice time.
Piano Books:
Succeeding at the Piano by Helen Marlais or My First Piano Adventures by Nancy Faber for ages 5-7 years old
(Lesson and Theory books are required from this series)Piano Adventures by Nancy Faber for ages 8-11 years old
(Lesson and Theory books are required from this series)Piano Adventures for the older beginner by Nancy Faber for ages 12 through adult
(Lesson and Theory books are required from this series)If you/your child have different piano books you/your child have previously worked in please let me know.
I am willing to be flexible if you already have books available on hand depending on the piano series
Supplies for Piano Lessons:
Required books (see above)
Piano or keyboard available to practice with at home
Notebook to record what needs to be practiced each week
Lesson Tuition:
I charge a monthly rate of $100 a month (weekly 30 minute lessons) or $190 a month (weekly hour lessons).
The monthly rate remains the same whether the month has 4 or 5 weeks.
Tuition is due at the student’s first lesson of each month.
Tuition is considered late if paid after the 15th. If tuition is late a $15 late fee will apply.I will not be teaching the weeks of September 13th-20th, November 19th-26th, and December 24th-January 7th.
Monthly tuition will remain the same because the months that have 5 weeks make up for the weeks we will be taking off.If you go on vacation your monthly tuition will remain the same, however, feel free to contact me and we can try to make up the missed time with make-up lessons. I do not offer refunds, only make up lessons will be allowed for a missed lesson.
I also offer family discount prices. If you have more than one person taking lessons, please contact me for your discounted rate.
Make-up Lesson Policy:
I offer make up lessons within a month (4 weeks) of the missed lesson
It is the student's/parent’s responsibility to contact me regarding a make-up lesson, only you know your schedule so hopefully we can connect on a time that will work well for both of us.
If you/your child is going to miss a lesson I request that you give me 4 hours’ notice before your scheduled lesson. If you do not give me notice ahead of time that you are going to miss or if you do not show up for your scheduled lesson without letting me know a make-up lesson will not be offered.
If you do not contact me about a make-up lesson within four weeks of the missed lesson no make-up lesson will be allowed, this is because it gets confusing keeping track of how many lessons were missed or if the lesson was already made up.
A maximum of two make-up lessons are allowed with-in a 4 week time period, any more missed lessons in that time frame will not be allowed.
Summer Lessons:
I highly encourage students to take summer lessons, if students do not take summer lessons I cannot guarantee a spot will be available for them to take lessons in the fall.
If a student wants to secure a spot in the fall, but is unable to do lessons or only able to do a few lessons in the summer, the student is asked to pay the monthly tuition in order to keep their lesson spot.
Recitals:
The main recital will take place on Saturday, May 13th at 1pm. Please mark this on your calendars now.
Family and friends are encouraged to attend. There will be an additional performance opportunity at an assisted living facility in December, however, the date is not yet decided.
I highly recommend students participate in recitals and performances. It encourages them to practice as well as have the experience of performing piano in front of other people. However, participating in a recital or performance is optional.
Parent Participation in Piano Lessons:
If your child is 8 years old or under it is important for parents to be involved with their student’s practice every week. How you can do that as a parent is by listening during your child’s lesson or contacting me about your child’s lesson each week. That way at home you as a parent knows what your child is supposed to practice as well as help them with what we worked on during the lesson.
If your child is older than 8 years old parents do not have to come to lessons or check in each week. However, it is important to encourage your child to practice. By helping make a child’s practice a priority, lessons run smoothly and your child progresses quicker.
If you decide that piano lessons are not working out for you or your child I will need you to give me a 30 day notice. That way I can open up your spot as available or give it to a student on the waiting list.
